Nursing support workers are vital members of our nursing teams working in wards, clinics and community settings with children and adults in all aspects of physical and mental health. They play a critical role in securing high-quality care and excellent outcomes for patients.

Nursing Support Workers' Day
23 November 2021
On Tuesday 23 November, we celebrated our second-ever Nursing Support Workers’ Day by putting a spotlight on the vital contribution nursing support workers make to patient care across the UK.

On the day we shared this film across our channels to shine
a light on the wide-ranging settings nursing support workers work in, and the
diverse tasks they carry out as part of the nursing team.
The Nursing Support Workers Committee and the Mental Health Forum, supported by the Library and Archive Service, held an online public event celebrating the work of mental health support workers. Called “A Day in the Life”, the event gave four support workers and a peer support worker the opportunity to tell their stories. We had over 120 attendees, including many considering a career in mental health. Comments received were all positive, and attendees all rated the event either “excellent” or “good”.
